krafty kuts

It comes as no surprise that Martin Reeves, AKA Krafty Kuts, has been described as one of the world’s greatest DJ’s. With a long list of awards, such as, Breakspoll’s Face of Breaks 2003, Best Breaks DJ at the M8 Ibiza Awards 2006, Best DJ for a RECORD third consecutive year in 2007 and being voted into the world’s top 100 DJs (DJ magazine poll) for three years running, it’s safe to say he’s a force to be reckoned with in dance music! But the most well-known award to us Down Under is his winning title as Best International DJ at the Australian Dance Music Awards, which has sent both his popularity and reputation as through the roof!
Although Krafty Kuts is notoriously known for his DJ skills, he hasn’t always stood behind the decks. Absorbing himself in the music and beats that he so loves, Reeves went on to run one of Brighton’s most popular record shops throughout the 90’s. He then transferred his knowledge and love for music to the studio, through producing and mixing his own tracks that he has gone on to perform around the world. In 2011, Reeves teamed up with Abel Reynolds from Fingerlickin Management to created the brand new record label, Instant Vibes, with a mission to release the world’s best breaks, funk, electro and disco.

The pins and scissors have been put away. The models sent home nursing sore heads and feet. And the front rows left empty as Rosemont Australian Fashion Week 2010 calls it a day… or more like five days.

If you didn’t get a chance to catch the shows, or are totally oblivious to Australia’s social media and fashion mags, here’s a wrap up of this year’s event and maybe even some trend-forecasting as to what you’ll be wear come summer. Read the rest of this entry »

Once an oddity, online fashion shopping is now a common commodity with every next label and ‘entrepreneur’ developing an online store. Blonde, spritely and forever clad in head-to-toe black, 24 year old RMIT graduate, Georgia Lazzaro is about to kick it with some serious world players as the inaugural winner of the Australians In New York Fashion Foundation internship.

Winning a scholarship, airfares and an internship at a NYC design house, Georgia is set to be Australia’s newest cultural export. Here’s hoping she doesn’t end up swapping spit with Whit Port or crooning Uptown yuppies like other famed Aussie expats.

As we punch our timesheet with the stamp of a new decade yesterday’s heroes – such as 70’s Glam rockers, 80’s fresh-faced movie stars, 90’s supermodels and noughties Internet It-sters – have been replaced with a new young breed: Rock Royalty Offspring. That’s right, just as you had your photoblog-wannabe pose down, the new guard has arrived and suddenly you’re not that cool after all.
